3SS was selected by Germany’s leading children’s broadcaster SUPER RTL for the launch of TOGGO, its AVOD kids’ service which went live on 8 April.

Aimed at youngsters aged 0-13 years, TOGGO will see a staged service launch, starting with a 3SS-engineered Fire TV app, to be followed by a range of other apps. TOGGO will progressively be rolled out for audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The launch of TOGGO’s Fire TV app followed highly successful viewer testing.

The TOGGO  project follows on from the relaunch of kividoo, SUPER RTL’s SVOD service for 2-13 year-olds, enabled by 3SS and announced in May 2019.

By taking advantage of 3SS’ 3READY Framework, the initial phase of the TOGGO rollout was completed within six months. 3READY Control Center is providing SUPER RTL with a powerful customer experience management tool that gives real-time control over presentation of content, features and branding of all apps all from one location. So SUPER RTL can at any time efficiently A/B test, adapt and improve TOGGO based on viewer feedback.

The 3SS project team worked very closely with SUPER RTL’s in-house team. Consistent with the methodologies of agile, continuous development with simultaneous testing and quality assurance operations, and a high level of communication, resulted in faster progress and accelerated TOGGO’s launch. SUPER RTL team members particularly expressed appreciation for the transparent and collaborative communications among all parties.

SUPER RTL is the leading content provider for kids in Germany. TOGGO and Toggolino are the two umbrella brands of the Cologne based media company each unifying TV-station, events and licensing business – also providing a large digital portfolio to children and families such as the streaming-portal kividoo, educational content for children in preschool and elementary school as well as many additional apps and websites. The SUPER RTL prime time targets a mainly adult audience with a modern and diverse TV program including TV shows, feature films as well as animation highlights. RTL Group and The Walt Disney Company each own 50 percent of SUPER RTL.

Multiscreen apps for Uruguayan cable and OTT TV service provider TCC

TCC’s new service will be powered by 3READY Android TV + Multiscreen, 3SS’ award-winning front end and UI framework solution featuring an Android TV Custom Launcher STB.

TCC has decided to build its upcoming service based on increasingly popular Android TV™ Operator Tier, Google’s proposition for service providers who wish to deliver advanced TV products featuring the vast array of attractive apps in the Google Play Store and Google Chromecast pre-integrated, alongside Google Assistant. A key benefit is that TCC will engage with subscribers via a branded, customizable launcher and UI.

Moreover, TCC will incorporate 3SS´s front end solution into its SaaS platform for the pay-TV industry in the region. By these means, TCC will extend its technology, user experience and quality standards to other network operators in the region in order to increase its current offer, now with more than 200,000 subscribers.

Furthermore, 3SS will carry out Google Assistant Android TV integration, along with enabling 3READY Assistant, 3READY’s innovation which further enriches voice search.

TCC has also chosen to deploy 3READY Control Center, whose targeting and A/B testing capabilities empower operators to quickly and clearly understand what new features will appeal to viewers, leading to faster and more successful product enhancements and launches. Furthermore, TCC will be able to realize operational efficiencies through the ability to remotely manage all STB and Multiscreen apps in a unified way, all from one location.

“3SS succeeded on all fronts and we look forward to building on this success with 3SS and to delivering further innovations for our viewers.”
