Ludwigsburg, Germany, March 9, 2016 – 3 Screen Solutions (3SS), a leading provider of customized software solutions and services to the multiscreen digital entertainment industry, today announced that Swisscom AG, Switzerland’s leading diversified telecom service provider, has extended its agreement with 3 Screen Solutions for the development of innovations to enhance the user experience for Swisscom’s IPTV audiences.
3 Screen Solutions had earlier been appointed by Swisscom as software developer of the groundbreaking viewer interface for Swisscom TV 2.0.
This technology collaboration soon achieved success following its 2014 launch: At the Videonet Connected TV 2015 Awards ceremony during the Connected TV World Summit 2015, Swisscom TV 2.0 won the award for “Best TV/Video Service Update or Launch.” Swisscom TV 2.0 was earlier named “Best Multiscreen TV Service” at the 2015 TV Connect Awards.
Swisscom has been widely credited for its pioneering innovation since the beginning of the Swisscom TV 2.0 initiative, in particular for taking the bold move to develop an Android STB. As part of the ambitious project, 3 Screen Solutions developed frontends for STBs, iOS, Android and WP7 smartphones plus iOS and Android tablets.
The aim for the renewed development programme with 3 Screen Solutions is to leverage new technologies to benefit Swisscom’s existing and future subscribers. 3 Screen Solutions continues to serve as Swisscom’s ‘extended workbench’ providing insourcing knowhow in UI development.
