Together with the BMW Group, the joint Paradox Cat and 3SS development team implemented the user interface and the BMW specific functionality for BMW’s unique entertainment masterpiece, the 31.3-inch Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) for the i7 and 7 series.
With an 8K, 31-inch ultra-widescreen display, the BMW Theatre Screen provides a truly cinematic experience on the go. The fully integrated Fire TV experience within the Theatre Screen system gives passengers access to a wide variety of content so that they can stream videos, listen to music, and watch downloaded programs, all while on the road.
Our team has developed an architecture concept that seamlessly merges Android technology with premium automotive HMI (Human Machine Interface). With our Android expertise, we were able to assist BMW with a complex AOSP (Android Open Source Project) extension and customization, including the addition of custom HALs (Hardware Abstraction Layers) up to the app level. Integrated zoom function enables content to be played in 16:9, 21:9, or even 32:9 format, with the added benefit of an extremely high display resolution of approximately 8000 × 2000 pixels per screen column, delivering an exceptionally clear and detailed visual experience, especially when viewing cinema films in ultra HD quality. Furthermore, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System delivers an unparalleled and versatile sound experience.
To enhance the cinema experience, the display's tilt can be adjusted via touch operation using the control menu on the in-car entertainment system, providing maximum comfort for every seat position. Passengers can also use the corresponding touch controls to select the screen format and adjust individual volume controls, conveniently located on the right and left edges of the display. Alternatively, passengers can also control the entertainment system through the control panels integrated in the door handles.
