Swisscom, the leading telecom and IT company in Switzerland, needed to upgrade its existing TV platform to stay competitive and offer its customers a next-generation, multi-screen experience. Swisscom aimed to leverage new technologies to enhance the user experience for its existing and future subscribers.

Swisscom turned to 3 Screen Solutions (3SS), a leading provider of customized software solutions and services for the digital entertainment industry, to develop a multi-screen solution for its TV 2.0 platform. 3SS created an award-winning solution that included an Android STB, phone, and tablet clients for iOS, Android, and Windows, as well as a web client. 3SS also developed front-ends for STBs, iOS, Android, and WP7 smartphones plus iOS and Android tablets. 3SS acted as Swisscom's 'extended workbench,' providing insourcing know-how in UI development.

The collaboration between Swisscom and 3SS resulted in the successful launch of Swisscom TV 2.0, which quickly became Switzerland's leading next-generation digital TV platform. The solution won numerous awards, including the "Best TV/Video Service Update or Launch" at the Videonet Connected TV Awards 2015 and the "Best Multiscreen TV Service" at the 2015 TV Connect Awards. Swisscom's investment in new technologies, such as UHD and cloud-based possibilities, helped them stay ahead in the fragmented media market.

The solution offeres UHD & HDR support for Live & VOD. The technology is delivering stunning picture quality, with more detail, richer colors, and deeper contrasts, bringing your viewers closer to the action than ever before. The Companion Feature enhances the viewing experience by linking the mobile exprerience with the big-screen TV, which allows subscribers to e.g. use their phones as remotes and seamlessly continue watching on the preferred device. NPVR & Replay allow viewers to never miss a moment of their favorite shows, with the ability to record and replay content on any channel.

In conclusion, 3SS's multi-screen solution helped Swisscom to revolutionize its TV platform, offer next-generation features, and stay competitive in the market. Swisscom extended its agreement with 3SS to develop further innovations for the following update to Entertainment OS 3 on OS 4 to enhance the user experience for its IPTV audiences.
