TCC, a Uruguayan operator with 20 years of experience in content distribution services, was looking to update its VIVO multiscreen solution. They wanted to offer an Android TV STB and mobile apps on Android and iOS while also making the Android TV solution available as a B2B product under the ZetaTV brand for the wider pay-TV industry in Latin America.
TCC chose to work with 3SS, who offered the capabilities to deliver a seamless user experience across screens based on a proven 3Ready reference UX. The new 3Ready-enabled hybrid STB featuring DVB-C and OTT launched to TCC's subscribers in Montevideo in May 2021, offering access to all Live (146 DVB-C channels) and VOD content in an integrated experience. The solution enables multiple profiles per household, including kids profiles with advanced parental control, a dedicated Sports Zone and Kids Zone, and many advanced service functions such as 7-day backwards EPG, mini-EPG, catchup and startover.
The project was a success, delivered in collaboration across multiple time zones with TCC's team in Latin America and 3SS teams in Europe. The solution provided seamless and intuitive content discovery, thanks to the award-winning 3Ready Product Framework. TCC was able to manage all experiences using the Unified Experience Management tool Control Center, which enabled targeted real-time control over presentation of content, features, and branding of all apps in one place. The solution also ensured safe navigation for kids, with only kids content accessible via the "Kids" profile and a password required whenever switching from kids to the adult profile.
This project has received support from Uruguay’s National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) in recognition of innovation and benefit to local technical knowledge and creative and media landscape.
TCC deployed their service for neighbouring providers, and together with its own direct domestic subscriber base, currently total over 200,000 subscribing homes, located in Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.
