yes. STINGTV

Yes is Israel's only multi-channel television provider via satellite and the pay-TV subsidiary of Israeli telco Bezeq. It is was the first company to offer digital broadcasts and interactive television services. Yes was looking to extend their services to smart TVs and provide their customers with a seamless viewing experience. With the rise of Smart TVs, the company realized that they couldn't ignore this trend and wanted to provide all the functionalities of their STB on smart TVs, so the need to develop the STINGTV app for viewing on Samsung, Tizen, and Web OS smart TVs arose. One of the the main requirements of this deployment was to have the functionality to accommodate UX in both languages, English and Hebrew, which required right-to-left navigation for Hebrew.

To achieve their goals, yes partnered with 3SS to develop the STINGTV app. The front-end solution was integrated with yes's technology partner Synamedia's infrastructure in close alignment.

3SS tackled this project leveraging its expertise and certification in modern agile development methodologies, including SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). SAFe is the modern iterative development process which involves frequent communication, cross-party planning and common risk management. With SAFe, all those involved in a project benefit from a clear understanding of their responsibilities and their inter-dependencies. Highly motivated and productive teams, faster time to market and better product quality are the outcomes.

In September 2020, yes deployed their STINGTV full operator apps on Samsung and LG Smart TVs in to 500.000 TV customers. The new app, based on 3SS’ multiple award winning 3Ready Product Framework, is also engineered to improve navigation inside the whole app, which changes based on language selected to accomodate both right-to-left and left-to-right for a smooth UX for everyone.

Thanks to the flexibility of the 3Ready Product Framework, yes was able to provide their own UI/UX design for a customized solution. 3SS’ front-end solution has been integrated with infrastructure provided by yes’ long-standing technology partner Synamedia, including the Infinite Cloud Platform, security solutions and services, as well as its video network technologies.

The STINGTV app offers a range of features to subscribers including video-on-demand, live TV, mini EPG, with restart and parental controls, among others, bringing yes to the frontier of Smart TV entertainment.
